Will I be refused a DMP? :(

Thanks Gemm - and how nice of you running your Dads' DMP for him.
I've been going google crazy, and found a few links regarding a 'Debt Arrangement Scheme', which looks like another option here in Scotland. Similar to a DMP but with extra protection etc. Hopefully CCCS will know about it, as it sounds quite good, and you don't have to have a lot of disposable income to go on one.0 -
Hi Ona,
My debts are down to my business/supplementing my income etc, but i'm a sole trader and don't have a business loan or anything. CCCS told me that was a good thing when I spoke to them initially?0 -
Hi Matthew,
So I will be forced into an IVA? I just didn't want that as i'm hoping i'll be able to up my disposable income soon.
Hi Lisa,
The outcome of the appointment will depend on your circumstances. At CCCS we look at a number of different factors when offering advice. As its only advice it’s up to you whether or not you chose to take it – you would never be forced to do anything. If for example an IVA was an option and after you have had all the information you still did not want to go down that route the next best option would be discussed along with budgeting advise and so on to try and improve your circumstances further.
If there are any questions you specifically want to ask your counsellor on your appointment write them down before hand (if your anything like me I always forget at the time:o )
Whatever the outcome of your call we will support you through your decision
Good luck and let me or Matt know if you have any further questions

Thanks Sarah.
A couple of questions then please if you don't mind:
So even if you don't think it's the best thing for me I could still go on a DMP?
and
Would you also offer me a Debt Arrangement Scheme, which from what i've read forces creditors to accept reduced payments/freeze interest etc?0 -
Hi Lisa, me again!
If the counsellor was happy to offer a DMP, then it's really up to you what option you take.
I'm afraid I can't give you much information regarding Debt Arrangement Schemes, as I'm not based in Scotland myself. I can ensure your Scottish trained counsellor will go through all the options when you have your appointment.
Try not to worry about things, we're here to help.

Thanks Matthew - I didn't realise i'd be speaking with a Scottish counsellor. I'm really worried about my appointment, incase I say the wrong thing, get my incomings/outgoings wrong or make a fool of myself (i'm so emotional at the moment!) etc. I've been waiting almost 1 month now and I guess it's starting to take its' toll on me.0

Debt laws differ in Scotland compared to England and Wales, so our Scottish counsellors deal with people that live in Scotland.
Don't worry about the appointment, I can emphasise with the fact your probably nervous but we're not going to try and trip you up or make a fool of you!
I hope it all goes well for you, let us know how you get on.

Also remember if CCCS won't help you do a DMP you have the option of setting up your own.Barclaycard 3800

Dont worry about bursting into tears I was so relivieved when I spoke to CCCS I couldnt speak for crying but they were fabulous, exceptionally kind and when I calmed down they were very patient with my feeble attempts at sorting out my debts. I am now DMP happy!0

Thanks guys, i'll let you know how I get on. I don't know what i'd have done without this board to lean on over the past few weeks. And at least I know now that if i'm turned down for a DMP with CCCS I can go solo with it...and it's okay if I make a blubbering fool out of myself when I talk to them!0
