They have also sent me a letter (which is clearly computer generated) saying that they are going to sell my debt, unless I make a few payments and one large final payment in july of 1.3k, and that my account has been reinstated (becuase I haven't made a payment since I got the letter saying the account was cancelled)
WHAT DO I DO - I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAY.. and Yes I am feeling stupid now for spending it!!!! ahh help!!!!!!!!!!!
You clearly acknowledge that there is a debt, but, it would also appear that there have been 'mistakes' from both sides over the whole affair.
I'm sure that the 'loan company' isn't going to want to take you to court, if it can be avoided, as their own behaviour is certainly not going to come across, to the judge, as exemplary.
If, as I imagine, you have not been in the position of having had to deal with a creditor on these terms, before, then why not have a word with National Debtline - 0808 808 4000, or CCCS - -0800 138 1111. They are 'debt charities' which are fully endorsed by this site, and can suggest the best way for you to 'tackle' this problem without getting yourself into deeper problems.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

DFW Nerd # 166 PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
My loan company recently sent me a letter saying that they had closed my account, cancelled my DD and thanks for my custom!! - Great but strange I thought, as I still had a good 2.8k left to repay.
Thinking that they had just given up on me making my miniscule payments every month, i was very pleased!!
However I then noticed that they had credited my account with just over a grand!
I know I should have kept the money and given it back, but I didn't and spent it on overdue rent!!!
3 months later, they are now asking for a cheque for the full amount the money they "made in error".
They have also sent me a letter (which is clearly computer generated) saying that they are going to sell my debt, unless I make a few payments and one large final payment in july of 1.3k, and that my account has been reinstated (becuase I haven't made a payment since I got the letter saying the account was cancelled)
