Bringin debt into marriage - advice please

I live my my partner and we would like to marry. My partner has a good credit rating but I had a business that failed resulting in debts of over £60,000. I paid off some of the debts by cashing in an endowment policy but still have around £50,000 of debt which I am currently paying a nominal amount towards. Our home is in my partner's sole name and we have separate bank accounts.
We are concerned that if we marry, my partner may become liable for some or all of the debt. We are also concerned regarding how my appalling credit rating will affect my partner's.
It would be a great shame not to marry purely because of financial reasons but on the other hand we don't want to shoot ourselves in the foot!
I would be very grateful for sound advice as to the legal/financial position should we marry.
Many thanks

Unless your finances are linked then geting married won't link them. Keep your bank account separate until your debt is paid off and your credit rating improves.
Good luck0
