where do i stand with cancellation?

having registered to an adsl supplier i am having problems,ie they have taken money off me but i have no service, and they are blaming bt and bt are blaming them ,i pay by monthly credit card,do i have a right to cancel? i signed up at the end of august.am i entitled to a refund?? help.

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regs 2000 you can cancel any time prior to the provision of the service. As long as you have NEVER had a service from them, you can cancel at no cost to you. Just make sure you put it in writing, send Recorded Delivery, and keep a copy of the letter.

If the service has started and failed, or been v. patchy, you may have to argue this under The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, cancelling due to the fact that they have failed to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Again, this needs to be written. Do not listen to them when they tell you that you can't cancel. You can if you are holding them in breach of contract.

ive had no service and im £9.99 down.they can stick it.all ive had is an e-mail stating that they were unable to connect me beacuse Bt rejected it.but they were quick enough to take my money.
