E.ON Price Protection v14 (01/10/2009)

Does anyone have any opinions on this tariff with E.ON or any of their previous price protection tariffs?
Just done my calcs on this and worked it out to be approx a 19% price rise over their Energy Online Extra Saver 5 which I'm currently on.
With the rises expected to be around 15 - 35% possibly up to 50% its a gamble what to do.
Gut feeling tells me that they won't go higher than 25% because they jumped a lot last year and I think something has got to give particuarly if this govenment want to reverse their waning support they need to ensure that rises are kept to a minimum and will put a lot of pressure on the suppliers to keep it down. Wasn't there a lot of regulator interest in last times rises being over the top?
In addition, on top of last years prices, I expect a lot of people will start to default on payments for energy bills favouring paying the mortgage etc costing the industry even more!
This trend cannot continue without serious consequences of people losing their homes or not being able heat themselves! - rant over -
Think I'll sleep on it for now!0 -

Just out of interest, did you get the 'offer' from EON to change to OES 6? Which actually has worse prices than 5. Did I miss something, or was it really a sneaky trick to get you on to a worse deal?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
No.No offer for me, but I've only just switched in within the last few weeks.
Doesn't look such a good deal!0 -
the ppv14 caps price until 01/10/09 next year seems like the best deal to me especially since british gas generally increase by about 44% a year on both gas and elec (energywatch) ... the eolv6 seems more expensive but in fact has a 'self serve' discount of between 4.3% and 11.4% depending on supply region ... an advisor at eon managed to explain that allthough the unit price is relatively high the discount is massive and since i shop at tesco the tesco clubcard points do the trick for me also ... anyone heard much about utility warehouse they seem like a multi level marketing firm yet i believe they are an rwe (npower) company is that true?0

Yes , Utility Warehouse is a multi level marketing firm , Utility Warehouse supplys energy via npower as they are a broker & thats the company they use , Utility Warehouse does their own billing and their prices are not necessarily the same as npowers0

I'm currently on the Energy Online Extra Saver V2 and am being thrown off it at the end of this month.
When I rang them they said was discontinued. I asked about the Price Protection v14 and they worked out I will be over £100 worse off - as opposed to going to the Energy Online Extra Saver v6
I'm undecided what to do at the mo - but will probably shop around.0
