Kitchen Fitter messed up and disappeared

I understand everything everyone is saying. I didn't try and do this on the cheap - I went with the only guy who was willing to quote for the job. Usually I would get three+ quotes and go with the guy who offered the best value for money (usually not the cheapest). He also had glowing recommendations and he does it for a living. I can't quite understand how he made such a mess of it.
The job was not difficult - all the units were level and the walls were only slightly out of square. It is a new extension with skimmed dot and dab walls.
I don't mind paying for a job to be done properly - if one of the countless people I phoned up had come and quoted on the job I would have gone with one of them as I said before I wanted the job doing straight away.
I will try and get the money back off this guy but am not holding out much hope. May I can threaten to dob him in to the tax man or something as a last resort.0 -
Hope you get it sorted rob.0
