Norwich Union health ins renewal fee !!!!

I have been sent my NU health insurance renewal with a note that as I pay by Credit card they can now renew without asking me if they can charge my card. I rang to cancel this method and said I would pay by cheque. They told me my premium would increase 5% because of the 'costs' of paying by cheque. This amounted to more than £50 for them to bank a cheque - and I thought banks were good at rip offs.

Seems fair. Many insurers offer discounts depending on the method you pay. People that pay monthly will be paying more than you so no doubt they would claim it wasnt fair that you get a better rate by paying yearly.
NU publish their terms and have made you aware of the different methods and if you choose not to use the cheapest method knowing the options available then there is nothing wrong with that.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
