Squirrels are digging up my lawn

How can I stop squirrels from digging holes in my lawn when they bury their nuts etc? Im finding dozens of holes in the grass. I dread to think what mess they will make when they dig up their nuts.

  • Have you watched Caddyshack? Plenty of tips in there to get rid. :D

Sorry for that....I don't have squirrels, so can't offer any real advice I'm afraid. Poisoned nuts perhaps?

Our lawn is full of little oak trees that sprouted when the squirrels forgot to come back for their acorns.

    Leave the squirrels alone.

What's more important- a patch of grass or the lives of a family of squirrels.

Much nicer to watch squirrels foraging than watching grass grow.

  • dont you know anyone with an air rifle?
If not just put an ad in your towns local paper or, if there is one, contact your local shooting club

make sure they have a BASS (british airgun shooters association) membership (insurance for airgunners)

    Ok heres some links...

    http://www.critter-repellent.com/squirrel/how-to-get-rid-of-squirrels.php

http://www.bird-x.com/products/squirrel.htm (this one is American, but maybe you could find some thing like it in England?)

But i just found this :

Some people try to sell predator urine, such as coyote or fox urine to get rid of squirrels, but that doesn't work. They also try to sell ultrasonic sound emitters. These devices are worthless at eliminating squirrels. Some old wive's tales recommend the use of mothballs or ammonia-soaked rags to make them leave, but I've been to countless homes where these techniques failed - biologists know that these attempts won't work.ad "the war on" with a family of squirrels this past summer. Little stinkers were everywhere. There are only 2 ways to get rid of them ... get a pest exterminator in or buy or rent a couple of cages (put in a small ball of peanut butter) trap them and relocate them out in the country or at least several miles from where you live.
If you have cat or dog food outside, feed your pet inside. Pet food attracts raccoons, rats and squirrels. Also, if you have a bird feeder close by, move it somewhere away from the house (as far away as you can get it.)
