Hi all
apologises if this question has been asked.:p
What is the yearly figure for any primary school children to receive free school meals. i.e. is it less than £13,500.00 . Only thing that I am aware of is that you just have to claim CHILD CREDIT ONLY. I have received the form from the local council but unsure whether to complete as we receive WFTC.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

I think the figure is higher than that. Does it not tell you on the claim form? I get one every year from my school and it gives the figure on it.0

I am sure it is around £14500 earnings limit and you/partner must work less than 16 hours p/w therefore do not qualify for WTC, only CTC.0

You can only get free school meals if you get CTC only. If you get WTC you dont qualifty. Really the only way that i think you would get it if you are not on JS/IS is and your main income is maintaince and is above threshold for IS and below 14,5000

Help with the cost of your children's schooling
If you get tax credits, your local authority education department may give you help towards the cost of school uniforms. If you are getting maximum Working Tax Credit, it may also provide free school transport for your child.
Your children could get free school meals if they attend a local authority maintained school in England and Wales, a local authority school in Scotland or a grant-aided school in Northern Ireland. To qualify, you must be getting Child Tax Credit only - not Working Tax Credit, and have a household income of £15,575 a year or less.
For further information contact your local authority.

As you will need to provide proof to the school (as in your CTC award notice) then they will be able to tell from that that you are not entitled to free meals. Its a waste of time claiming if you get WTC.0

Even if your income is under the limit, if you claim WTC, then you don't get free school dinners.
When I first became a single parent, my total income was around £10k, but I didn't qualify for school dinners because I worked 20 hours a week. It's really unfair IMO.Here I go again on my own....0
