If you look on the front page of Martin's website he puts the best offers on there, these are also included on his weekly email (so sign up for it). If you scroll down the page >>>>> (I am pointing to the right) Martin has a list of things not to miss and one of them is Best Balance Transfers.
Virgin money has 0% over 15 months but you do need to pay a small admin fee when you transfer balances - this is an MBNA card. Martin lists the best deals at the moment so go and have a nosey. To quote Martin - don't ever ever spend on the 0% card because you are just racking up more debt.
Does your OH need to cut up his cards to stop him spending on them?0 -
OH has his head firmly in the sand and flitters "pence" in his eyes and Pounds in mine. Have taken them out of his wallet last night and replaced them with a prepaid (free) cash card with £150.00 on it. When he finds put luckly i wont be around. He'll never find them either i've put them in a plastic box filled with water in the freezer. as he never cooks he'll never find them. lol
thanks so much for the help. i must have missed it when i scanned the home page. sooooo many things to look in to.

What are piggy points?
your OH has an interesting day ahead of him.
does he know the numbers for the prepaid cashcard or is it one you sign for?For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Piggypoints are points that you get that are either free or from spending on the internet via the pigsback website - points can be exchanged for useful rewards such as £10 M&S vouchers e.g. 1500 points buys you a voucher.

There are various other shopping sites such as Quidco that give you money back. If you go onto the freebies forum - there are a whole raft of topics on there about cashback sites, plus free stuff that you can send off for.

I think Barclaycard do a life of balance low rate interest on balance transfers, again pretty sure they charge a fee for transferring balances but I think most of them do thatMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0

Thanks for the advice about the Virgin card. Just applied and been accepted but they have given me far to much credit. can i transfer one of OH cards on to it to???Only the Mortgage to go!!!0 -
Hi Toothfairybutkicker, welcome to the forums....
Ouch about OH's CC balances!!! I know how that feels, although not quite to that extent.
Is your OH on board with being debt free at all? Mine thinks that people our age *should* have lots of debt (we're both pushing 30 and haven't even got a mortgage!) and that by signing up to this site, I have joined a cult
Hope you don't get into too much trouble when he finds that you've swapped his CCs for a pre-paid card.... I'm sure his face will be a picture!
I got a balance transfer of 4.9% for 60 months with a 2% fee from First Direct, but I don't kow if that was an existing customer offer or not... Check out Martin's article about credit cards as he alwaqys puts the best buys in there...
Good Luck

I wasnt thinking of you applying for the card more like OH applying and shifting his balances from his other cards to it - then putting the card in the drawer and forgetting about it.
I dont think that you will be able to shift OH's cards onto it because they are not in your name. Anyway you dont have to use the credit card so the credit limit shouldnt be an issue really.0 -
TFBK - with the Virgin Money card, you can do a BT to another CC or to a current account so you can use the cash to pay off an overdraft or whatever you need to. I'd suggest putting everything towards those debts with the highest APR and paying the minimum on everything else.
Hopefully your husband has learned his lesson and isn't just going to "relapse" once the shock has worn off. Try to keep him appraised of what you are doing and why. Hopefully he'll be able to help with some of it. You never know, one night you could be cooking the books while he's cooking the dinner. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
