I have a tesco cc, which i use to buy my shopping (i get extra points that way) and each time ive used it, i pay the amount off from my account thereby never incurring a bill.
in last months statement, there was a flyer saying the t&c had changed - i read it as though even if you pay your bill off before the due date, you will get charged interest on the items from the point they hit your statement until they are cleared. Am i right on this? there will always be a few days difference in me clearing the items, cos it takes 3 days to get from my bank to theirs.
hope i'm wrong, otherwise its bye,bye tesco card!

You're wrong. The change means that *if* you are charged interest it is from the date you made the purchase. You can still pay off each month with out penalty.

I have to say that I read this the same way as choccyface. It seemed to me that for any purchase that didn't come under a 0% interest rate deal, they would charge interest on that purchase when it appears on your statement. If you pay the whole amount on the statement (i.e. clear the card), then they will credit you with the interest the next month. That's the way I understood it, and thought it was rather sneaky of them.
Has anyone actually confirmed what the new t&c means in practice with Tesco?0 -
tesco wont speak to me cos i'm only an authorised user - not as though i want personal information about my husbands card though - just a general query!0

I have a tesco credit card that I pay off each month and my statements have not changed and I pay no interest.

I haven't got the notice in front of me at the moment, but if I recall correctly this new condition doesn't come into force until October anyway.
I'll keep an eye on it.0 -
I misread it too
Its really confusing, this is the 3rd post about that particular t&c "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

They would be mad if they did this. How many other credit cards charge interest when you pay your balance in full? We love our CC points, but not that much!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
