Is this possible

My partners being made redundant at the end of the month so hes job hunting like mad.
As the jobs need to be called for while hes at work its costing us a fortune in vodaphone top ups (£10 today alone)
Weve got this 1811 or similar with our phone now where you dial the number 1st and most calls are free apaer from the 3p connection.
Is there someway that he could phone the companies that he needs to from his mobile while adding the bill to our home phone more cheaply. I hope im making sence here. We dont want a contract phone but need to cut down on these call costs. He cannot use the work phone so mobile is the only option
Regards Allie
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

I presume you are talking about 1899 not 1811.

Yes it is possible to use the 1899 service from his mobile by using the 020 access number.Unfortunately as he is on Payg he has got to pay payg rates to call the 020 access number, unlike a contract phone where it can be used out of your inclusive minutes. So this is of no benefit to him as he would be paying more to use it.

He could use a BT Payphone. It's only 30p for calls up to 15 minutes to 01/02 numbers.

  • Hi,
Are you really sure that your partner cannot use facilities at work, he may even be entitled to time offf for job interviews.
Been there myself, asked for time off without pay and got paid!
