Just joined tiscali, they provided the above modem, but my computer does'nt recognise it as a modem, it shows up as a WAN adapter. How can I sort this out as tiscali seem to have no clue!?. I need to be able to send & receive faxes via my own software, tiscali have said the modem can do that, so thats not a prob...any thoughts?. Thanks.
No one said it was gonna be easy!

WAN = Wide Area Network. So it technically is right.
When you installed it did you plug it in and then put the CD in or run the CD and put it in when prompted?0 -
So they gave you a broadband modem?
You will have to get third party software to send faxes via a Broadband
modem and that usually costs money, if however you have a phoneline
near you can still send faxes via the telephone line as that carries a
fax signal, you will have to dial up as before Broadband, you can send faxes
via Microsoft word.0 -

You couldn't have said it better!! If you don't have a contract with these clowns get out quick, they are one of the most incompetent shower of ***** I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. Send everything back and join a different company for your own sanity if nothing elseThese are the Good 'ol Days just wait and see!0 -
I agree 100% with scoot.......the customer service and technical ability of the contact centre is abysmal. Youre fine if its all running OK, but if not.......theyre as much use as a condom machine in a nunnery.
Their modus operandi seems to be "if we ignore a problem for long enough, it will fix itself".
If its recongised the modem as the WAN adapter, its probable that its working. Youll need to log on with your ID and password, and when prompted using 0,38 as the number to dial.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Thanks for your thoughts......so is there no broadband provider who gives this service as standard?, sending faxes is no problem, but i need to be able to receive faxes as well!No one said it was gonna be easy!0
