I recently bought a Panasonic TZ3 for £140, they might be a bit cheaper now and I'm very pleased with it. It's got 10x Optical zoom and has a wide angle lens which is great for landscapes and group photos. It's not the best for low light shots though so it depends on w hat sort of photography you're going to do on holiday.

I'll second the Panny. Brilliant little camera.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

The Gadget Show tested point and shoot cameras this week so take a look here.

I use a canon and generally their range is well liked and gets well rated. You can look here for a good guide here.

Amazon have the Canon A560 (£81) A570 (£106) or the A720IS with image stabelisation (£131). All will offer full auto mode, plenmty of scene options and some manual options also.

If you are flying then you can contact Dixons Duty Free on the numbers here.
They should be able to process the order for you over the phone then you just collect when you are at the airport.

I got a snazzy black kodak one with a HUGE screen (its 12 million pixles).

Another vote for the Panasonic TZ3 from me , excellent camera. Bought mine from 7day shop, who also sell batteries for them at a reasonable price.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Remember that the number of MegaPixels is NOT a good measure of image quality. Increasing the number of MegaPixels cna introduce 'noise' on images and can therefore degrade the image quality.

The most important things are the quality of the lens and the size of the sensor.

I've got a Sony T200 and would recommend it to the casual photographer. It's very compact, stylish and incredibly easy to use. More importantly, it rarely takes a bad photo.

I know that, I mentioned it in brackets to help identify the camera model.

It hasn't got a quality Leica DC Vario-Elmarit optical zoom like the Panasonic though!
