Miserable News

BBC 6 o'clock. the good years are over apparently. everything is going up and will continue to do so, everything except wages .
how will we all manage? I spend 1/3 of my income on diesel to get to work as it is. actually a bit more, i earn £120 a week or less if its quiet and I get sent home and it costs me £12 to get too and from work, thats just the fuel , not tax and insurance. its a rural area so no public transport available.
OH works full time and we are just above working tax credit level.
its all getting very frightening.
we'll all need to go Old Style , like having no electric or cars at this rate.

It does seem to be doom and gloom all the time at the moment with everything going up, but at least on here we do know how to stretch every penny or we can ask how to do things to save money and someone always helps.

Whatever happens we are not as bad off as the poor people of China or Burma so I can only count my blessings. I know its difficult but I always think no matter what we are still relitivley wealthy in comparison to some...........If I have to we will live of beans and toast and I have my family and health to get me through.
I think what riles me most is that we pay so much of our income out in tax and watch the government squander it on renovating speakers appartments for eg!!They just waste so much of our money and all that waste could help so many who need it...crazy.

Think I just missed Martins programme..............if its on at 7pm definitely missed it...............b******!!!! Oh well, bound to be something on the site about it and he's often on the Jeremy Vine show on Fridays talking about this sort of thing so we'll catch up I expect.

We do have a lot to be thankful for by comparison to so many other people, particularly the disaster areas at the moment that are too awful to contemplate.
But it is annoying to see the government here throwing money around where its not needed and by passing the folk who could do with the help.

I think it's an absolute disgrace the way prices have shot up, I doubt it's all to do with the credit crunch, I'm convinced some Companies are trying to make a quick buck.

As example, DAZ tablets, normally £2.36, now £2.59, Morrison's Kitchen rolls normally, 65p, now 75p, this is just 2 items, it goes on and on.

The problem is, whenever this “credit crunch” is over prices will not come back down.

I'm wondering how long it will be before there is some kind of backlash, from my observations people are reaching the end of their tether, it won't be that long away where our salary will be paid direct to the government, and they will give us what they believe we need to live on.

Washing powder tablets - not very OS! I used to use these - i think it worked out at about 20p per wash.
Now I use a washing powder mix (2 boxes supermarket own brand washing powder, 1 box of branded (with a nice smell) and a bag of soda crystals). It works out at 2p per wash max.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
