Private Health Insurance-Renew or Not?

Advice needed please. We currently have health insurance with Axa PPP on a corporate policy, through DH fledgling business. It is going to cost us just over £150 per month when it is due to renew in October.

The problem is that DH has low grade Crohns disease - no medication, no ongoing monitoring.

He had a recent medical problem and they say it is linked to Crohns and because we have had policy 1 year and 11 months and not 2 years, his treatment is not covered.

It is debatable that the problem was linked to Crohns and there lies the problem. Should we renew & have to wait a further two years for all his health problems to be covered, not renew and have to pay any private health costs ourselves, or renew and hope that either no medical problems, or totally non linked problems arise eg. broken leg!!!

It isn't an option for just me & the kids to be covered on our policy,as the costs are lower because it is a corporate policy.

Any advice much appreciated, any ideas on other insurers/options needed.

Thanks & sorry for length of post!!

  • You could call Premier Health Group for advice. They are an independent insurance broker, therefore able to search fro the best deal for you. They do corporate Health insurance and are very helpful. http://www.premierchoicehealthcareltd.co.uk/group-health-insurance.php

Hope this is of some help?

Probably not - as the post was put up in 2005.
I don't know if there is something up with the site but people seem to be replying to very old posts.

Don't bother with Premier Choice - they will rob you blind...

There are switch products out there (depending on claims) and also ones which will cover you after 2 years regardless of any recurrences.

Should you renew is irrelevant to the 2 year symptom-free aspect. If it is ongoing and not covered it never will be.

You may have to accept this will not be covered unless you possibly look at Pru but even then its 2 years away until cover is in place.
