Unauthorised Overdraft charges

Hello all, could anyone give me some advice please. I went overdrawn on my current account (with an authorised overdraft limit of £1750).I am with Halifax and have a couple of other savings accounts, both of which cover the money I went overdrawn with (unauthorised.) I was unaware I had gone overdrawn and was charged £20 for being about £5 overdrawn, I paid for something else for around £4 and was charged a further £20, this is on top of an unauthorised overdraft fee of £28 at the end of the month.
I have been out of work for a couple of months but I have a new job starting soon (hopefully). The reason I left my previous job was through illness and I am currently seeing a psychiatrist over some serious mental health issues (psychosis and severe memory problems.) It is because of these reasons that I neglected to move money over to cover my current account. I am currently in the process of claiming for benefits and because of illness (where I stupidly ate into savings instead of claiming benefits) money is very very tight. This extra £68 will make life significantly harder for me over the next month or so while I am waiting for CRB checks to be completed to start my new job (in a school).
Do these circumstances allow me to claim back even with the hold on claims? Also, when I get in touch with the bank should I inform them of what I have informed you lot?
Many thanks from anyone that helps, I have read many threads on here before and never posted and think that the work and advice you all give is worth so much to many people. Kepp up the good work guys and many thanks!
