Items advertised elsewhere...

Hope somebody can help! I'm interested in an item that ends soon but has something along the lines of the following in the text:
"item also advertised elsewhere so reserve right to cancel auction"
If I win the auction (no other bids so far) do they have to sell me it? Or if they don't feel they get a good enough price can they make an excuse along the lines of interested parties elsewhere?

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...

Do they not risk a non-performing seller strike if the buyer complains to ebay?0

As far as i know you are allowed to advertise that the fact the item "is advertised elsewhere" so the auction can be pulled at anytime without warning but if you bid on the item the seller may cancel your bid or just not sell it to you if you are the winning bidder.
The only reason for "advertised elsewhere" is if the ebay auction is not going as planned then they can pull it so it does'nt sell too cheap0 -

When the auction enters the last 12 hours a seller can not cancel it or make changes to it if there has been a bidder. If you have bid and won the item you have entered into a contract to buy that item. You can report the seller if they do not carry through with the transaction. However you can both agree not to complete the sale and neither party will be punished
Just out of interest, how does a seller cancel an auction? I can see the link to revise the item, but nothing to cancel it altogether ...Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
to cancel a auction you need to have no bids then go into the services section and put in end my auction early, you can cancel Bids then end the Auction early.
There is always a way........:ASexy_fufu:A0 -

Also you can go to the help section and type in "end listing early" and follow instructions for ending the item :beer:0
