I had channel 5 via my freeview box - tv and video recorder connected via 2 scarts. Have just bought panasonic dmr es10 dvd recorder (to replace vid recorder) and 'cos I'm not a techie have paid engineer £40 to install. Ch 5 has disappeared from freeview box. Have re-installed freeview several times but no success.
Whereas the previous connection with vid recorder/tv/freeview box was with 2 scarts; the engineer has it all connected with 3 scarts - could this be the problem? The dvd is recording okay from freeview and terrestial. I just can't get ch 5 from freeview any longer.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have a look at your aerial (coax) lead routing. It should go Aerial----Freeview
DVD----TV.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I kinow nothing about your DVD recorder. Is it possible that it is adding its output to the TV signal down the aerial connection that other devices can receive. This feature is not needed because of the scart situation. This (uhf output) feature needs to be retuned to a non-interfering frequency or turned off completely.

Thanks for your reply - I've been away since my post. Yes the lead routing is set up as you described. In fact I switched everything off and back on again and ch 5 reappeared but thanks anyway. I've got another problem now with timer recording digital progs and I'll do another post. Hey ho!!fitzroy0
