Dishwasher not working properly.Help anyone?

Our integrated dishwasher isnt working properly at the moment. The top shelf isnt getting clean and the tablets arent dissolving.I cant decide if the normal amount of water is getting in.I have cleaned it all out...filters etc but it has made no difference.Has anyone any idea what the problem may be and whether its worth getting it repaired?(i have phoned 2 repair companies already but no reply...sooo frustrating!)

Any help appreciated.

Start the machine, on any cycle and open the door quickly to see if the arms are rotating.

Have a good look at the rotating arms and see if any of the "nozzles" on these are blocked with bits of food or even lime scale. If these are blocked the arms will not rotate correctly, if at all; and if they do they will not be spraying part of the load of dishes properly.

moonrakerz....thanks for your info.i have decided that the top rotary arm is definately not rotating.ive took it off, cleaned it and water flows through the holes when i let water run through the middle of it.Is there anything else i can try?Afriend has told me to get some citric acid to put through on a cycle.Thats top of my list of jobs for tomorrow.

It is solely the water pressure that makes the arms rotate.
If the holes in the arm are clear, just make sure that the arm will spin when you flick it with your finger.
If that is OK it sounds as though your aren't getting enough water pumped into the top of the arm from the "roof" of the dishwasher. See if you can unscrew the plastic surround from this downward pointing nozzle to see if it is blocked inside.
