A&L CC declined....?

Hi
I have my current account with A&L which my wages are paid into monthly (£22k pa) and a savings account with A&L which gets £300 pcm stuck into it yet they (or MBNA) declined me for their CC.
The only thing I can think is because I recently cancelled a MBNA card. I wanted to do a BT but the best they offered was 6.9& for 6 months even when I phoned to cancel, which is crap.
Will it be the old MBNA card that caused my application to be rejected do you think? because I can't think of any other reason as I never miss bill payments or anything as they all have a DD setup.

Forgot to put main gist of the post in
Is there a number to phone that anyone knows? the girl at A&L gave me an adress to write to but I aint messing about with that, far faster to just apply elsewhere but if there is a phone number that would be good

MBNA operate the CC so your A&L account conduct doesn't count for anything. Why do you imagine MBNA should want to offer you a new card when you've told them where to stick their previous card?0
