I suggest that the Labour Party considers accepting the offer... once and only once the Shareholders Action Group shows that it has the money to repay the loans.
That's why Northern Rock had a problem: nobody was willing to lend it money except the government in an emergency rescue package, at which point it, like Bear Stearns, was on the point of final death and only saved by emergency measures. While the Labour Party is still negotiating with its lenders, who seem likely to agree to extend their loans.
I'll be very surprised if SAG can raise the millions it'll take to buy the Labour Party and assume its obligations.
Still, it's a funny letter, even if it does grossly distort the comparison.0
