    Right, so recieved a new letter dated the 9th June. This crossed my letter to them as above.
    This new letter details the "Sale of my Debt". Asset Link Capital note that they have been appointed by ALC to administer and recover my debt.
    They say that I pay in full to Asset Link and that contractual interest will be charged until the debt has been repaid.

    Ummmmmmmmmmmmm is this part of the process or something that I need to be worried about ?? I imagine that I just carry on as normal and wait for the full month to expire and then.......................

    Any advice appreciated

    Sorry, but i'm getting a bit lost here. Can we have a brief recap of what has happened so far?
    Do you know what the original debt is for yet or who the creditor was?

    Does ALC stand for Asset Link Capital? Are they taking the wee wee or is this a different company?

    Sure. Will cut and paste from my previous post......

    From my post on the 14/05;
    I recieved a letter today, asking if a person called Mr weightgain lived at this address. As I did , I called this company and spoke to some who advised me Link Financial was wanting to speak to me.

    They conected me and spoke to a very nice man . He advised me that I had signed a credit agreement around 7 yrs ago with my then partner for some new windows for our house.

    This credit agreement had not recieved any money towards it since Aug 2006 and as such they wanted settlement of £300 odd quid to close this.

    As I had (Or so I thought) finished off all my debts, I asked some obvious questions. How was the money paid to them "Bank Transfer". Who paid this "Can't answer that Sir". Did I ?? "Can't answer that Sir". Did my ex-wife ask you to ring me for the money ?? "Can't answer that Sir".

    I summised to him that she had and that they were clutching at straws to get the money back "Can't answer that Sir"

    I have left it with the company I will ring them tomorrow with her address (As she randomly lives near my parents now so is easy to get).

    I guess my observations are as such ;

    I'm 99% sure she had paid this debt since we split. As part of the divorce it was noted that our debts that we were currently paying off individually would remain just that - individual and we would not ask each other for money

    I'm pretty sure the last payment was around the time she moved from the house with the windows in

    Following this I received no further contact until this ;

    So, received a reply today, dated the 30th on the letter (exactly 14 days from my first letter). This letter says that they note my request but as I do not acknowledge the debt, under the data protection act they are unable to send me a copy UNLESS I provide six (!!) specimen signatures inc a passport or driving license so that they can proceed......

    I then sent off the default letter you kindly helped me with the other day.
    I wonder if I typed the letter out in full would that help clarify ?? It does seem they are reffering to themselves as two different companies but I dunno. I imagine the original debiter sold it to them and now they are trying to enforce it. But they still haven't shown my the original agreement or even confirmed I am who they think I am.....

    I promise i did reread the thread :) - just wanted to check if you had sent the "prove it" letter or requested the CCA (with payment).

    I'm a bit confused about what the debt would be for as they are charging interest on it. I thought that once a debt was sold then interest couldn't be charged. There might be a few exceptions though.

    The fact that they were supposed to provide a copy of the CCA does not change. The debt is unenforcable as they have gone over the 12 working days deadline. I think this is just a letter to panic you into making payment.

    Received a new reply (Not dated interestingly).

    Basically telling me the original reason for the credit and who the debt was shared with - but again my name was not mentioned. It's asking me to acknowledge the debt and they will then provide "all the documentation I requested"

    Is this another case of ignore ??

    I also received a letter from someone called Lowwell Portfolio I asking me to confirm that I lived at a certain address in the past. This info was supplied by experian. Do I have to confirm this ??

    Any help accepted with gratitude !!!!

    Both letters - ignore

    1st one - they have a legal obligation to provide the documentation. You do not need to and should not acknowledge the debt.

    2nd - seems like a fishing letter. Don't confirm, don't deny. If they are chasing you for a specific debt, you'll soon know about it.
