Halifax & compensation for mismanagement

I'm new here but I bet there is someone who can help answer this.
I have a cardcash account with Halifax which had an authorised overdraft on it. Having never got into difficulties with the account (but using the overdraft facility), they suddenly withdrew the overdraft in November without any notice. I complained and have been offered £100 compensation. They also offered me a high interest current account with a £300 overdraft facility which has to be activated by me depositing £100.
I requested that the £100 compensation was used to open the current account and then that I can transfer the remaining cardcash overdraft £280 over to the current account overdraft.
This was during a telephone call with the customer relations manager a week before last. During the call he agreed that this was a sensible request and he would authorise it. However, he rang on Monday this week to say that I was not allowed to use the £100 to activate my current account. I then requested that he either send me a cheque for the £100 or put it into another account that I have in another bank (I followed this request up with an email to him on Monday morning). However, I have had no reply to my email, or a phone call back. I have looked at my cardcash account online today to see that he has used the £100 to reduce the amount on my now unauthorised cardcash overdraft.
I am really angry about this, as surely compensation should belong to me to decide what I will do with it.
Has anyone got any ideas what to do next or if I have any right of reply to this?
Thank You.
