Hi
Have a look here. There is the Sure Start Maternity Grant and a child trust fund. You should be entitled to Child Tax Credits when the baby is born.

There is always a Community Care Grant from the Social Fund but there are rules and regulations on what you can and cannot use them for and how often you can apply.
Most of the info about benefits is available from your midwife or try cab.
Best of luck and congratsThe Cabbage

hiya,
i know when i had my son in 2005 i was a given a £256 ''cheque'' to put into a child trust fund account. you only have 6 months from the date on the letter to put it into an account.
When my son was around 1 years old they (the government!) sent me another award letter aith a cheque attatched for £256 again! which i promptly put into my sons Child trust fund. The money that accumulates in this account cannot be touched untill they reach 18 years of age, you can put in but you cant take out!
Hope this helps!0
