Wednesday 14/05/2008. What small dfw things will you do today????

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
I will post mine later when i get chance!! Just wanted to get this up so people had somewhere to put theirs, hopefully its not already been posted!!

I have:
- Checked ebay - more watchers, no bids
- Checked banking - all ok
- Checked quidco - had an order track and had 67p validated.
- Done PB comps and CT
- Checked for mystery shops - none
- Walked the kids to school rather than drive
- Got P60 in post and have used entitledto to work out that I am going to be about £18 a week better off in TC and should get some extra help with rent :T
- Got revised water bill which shows my water consumption has changed and my bill is now £2 a month cheaper :T
- Submitted invoice for work, will get paid by friday, just in time, things are about to go b00bs up lol.
- Looked into cheap camping gear for the kids imminent scouts trip
- Located £6 MOC for Tesco clothing, ds shoes are about to fall apart
- Transferred 2 domain names to another host which will save about £17 a year

- [strike]Walk to school rather than drive[/strike] Done
- [strike]Update the rest of this when I have done above - laaaaaaaaaaate leaving...[/strike]
- Take 2 items of clothing back to tesco, 1 needs a different size (OH) and I need to swap a top as the style really doesnt suit me. Will pay £1 extra to get 2 tops on offer, but save on below.
- Get refund on above and then re-buy to make up the amount for my £6 MOC
- Will do shopping from mysupermarket lists whilst doing the above
- Try and list an item on ebay
- [STRIKE]Double check spreadsheet for tomorrow and try and tweak it to fit :rotfl: (aka who not to pay just yet)[/STRIKE] Turns out I cannot amend my SO this late in the day grrrr
- Further plan summer holiday days out, need to print calendar and start working out which days to go. Have enough clubcard vouchers to do all the tesco ones on the list, just need to work out if we can do the others, they currently come to £134  for a fam of 5 to go to 7 places.
- [STRIKE]Look at snowball, didnt manage that yesterday[/STRIKE]
- Dinner from stores/fridge/freezer.

:T Thanks to Andan for keeping thread going!:T
Big thing for me today was being able to make a £200 payment to reduce my Capital One account balance:rotfl: :T and that was achieved largely by following the money saving advice on this forum!:j
I probably won't be able to make such a big payment from next month onwards as my DMP payment increases but if I can at least make a payment of £50 over what they grab:mad: in interest/insurance I will be happy as it means by debt total will be going down...slowly but surely
Apart from that just the usual stuff...storecupboard evening meal, NSD, washing out on line, heating not on etc:A :T
:j Hope everyone has had a good day and will have nice evening to come:j:cool: Weather still glorious here in North West of Scotland:cool::hello: :jEternal Optimist:j:hello:BR 22.09.08:staradmin BSC Member 201:staradmin0 -

Evening all - what a lovely night it is too.
Today I....
checked online banking - still skint
used rice and chicken to make different dinner for kids
did some ironing to keep the load low
hung 4 loads out on line - still out now
bought flowers that were on offer for my nana cos it's her birthday today - 86 years youngShe has alzheimers and although it is such a rubbish disease, it was lovely to see her face light up every time someone told her it was her birthday. It was as though she was just realising when someone gave her a card
Hope everyone else is having a nice day too.

Hello all
Nearly had a NSD but then, it isn't one is it!*!*!- washing on line
- checked bank and updated spreadsheet
- [strike]spent less than £1[/strike] DS2 just appeared with list for 'cooking' tomorrow!!!
- found 40p and put it into the pot
- had free lunch at work :j
Getting there...slowly!
GC : must do better
NSD: very rare
No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.0 -
Today I tried something new - purchased hair clippers from ebay (£6.20
using money from quidco) and saved myself some money cutting my over abundant hair  with the longest guard all over. Which was a very interesting experience and resulted in only minimal blood loss  and a hairstyle that is scarily similar to >> :money: .
Anyway, it saved me £3 already on the cost of a local haircut, and all future hair cuts are free;) As I get better the hair might look OK too:D“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
