Moving a conifer

We have a small conifer (about 3 ft) in our garden that was there when we moved in. As we don't know much about gardening all we have really done is cut the grass and trim the hedge, however now we have the house sorted I would like to sort the garden, maybe plant some flowers etc. I have noticed that the conifer is very close to one of the hedges and has only grown on one side, the side next to the hedge is completely bare, I have dug up and area further up the garden, should I move it there, where it would have more space or should I just leave it where it is, I don't want to kill it

  • In my experience (and I don't claim to be an expert) conifers don't move very wall. I've lost a few trying to move them. Plus the bit that is dead will not grow back so by moving it you won't really achieve anything. The conifers in our garden that are planted against the fence have died on that side as well which is a shame but I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

Thank saxonrosecliff, think I will just leave it where it is then, don't want to risk killing it as its a pretty little thing, just thought it might grow a bit more if I moved it
