Best place for kids bedroom furniture??

I dont know if I have posted this in the right place so apologies if I haven't. I want to buy solid wood furniture for my sons' bedrooms and wonder where the best place (and cheapest) would be to get it. I live in the Highlands of Scotland and there are no decent shops near here (Argos is about the only cheap one) and I wondered if there were any decent sites online. One son is 10 and the other is 1 1/2. Mothercare seems to be the only one I can find but there prices are a bit steep!! Help anyone please?

I've bought this bed 3 years ago from www.furnituremart.co.uk. Very good quality. They have a lot of other furniture.

Have a look on Ebay and search within, say 50 miles of your postcode so you know oyu can go and fetch it. Often you'll get furniture for a couple of pounds because it can;t be posted.

I know exactly what you mean. I live in the Highlands too and I always have the same problem. Even if you can track down something you want up here and you find a store that sells it, you always have to wait forever for it to be ordered in.

I'm afraid I was not blessed with patience when I was born so I usually end up travelling to Ikea in Edinburgh or Glasgow where I can buy and take home there and then.

If you can't take the items yourself, Ikea do deliver but it's £90 for our neck of the wood. Cheaper to hire a van for the day and DIY.

What type of furniture are you after? (I know you said solid wood, but I mean beds? Wardrobes? Drawers etc?)

    I have used www.barginfurniture.net before.

Bought daughters four poster bed from there along with a wardrobe, bedside chest etc. No probs with them but delivery was a little long? @ 4 weeks? but I did order quite a bit and something wasn't in stock. Some free gifts for certain purchase amounts.

    There is also www.furnituretoday.co.uk & www.furniture123.co.uk

Hmm the nearest one is 4 hours away I am afraid!! Glasgow or Edinburgh are the only ones in Scotland (I live half way between Inverness and Aberdeen)

well i wouldn't buy from furnituretoday if i were you. we have had the worst experience with them - order delays, incorrect deliveries and still waiting for furniture after 6 months - and their customer service is appalling. we certainly won't be buying from them ever again.
