Squeeky beds

hi,
iv got two beds in my house that have wooden frames with draws.
one big problem im having is that they seem to be squeeking a lot when you move around on them.
any way of sorting this noise out, or even making them make less noise?
the draws arent even full and the mattress is perfect.
someone told me to put some oil in the wood so that the oil gets soaked up into the wood and stops the squeeks.
anybody tried this or have any other ideas apart from getting new beds-as a last resort??
advice would be appreciated,
thanks in advance,
Skiddy

I had the same problem! Nothing worked. I bought metal bedsteads.
But with hindsight, if you have central heating on, it could be drying out the timber. perhaps a humidifier (even one of those ceramic thingies you hook on a radiator) might help!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
Is it the wood creaking or metal springs squeaking? Not sure about putting oil onto wood...
Would say wink wink nudge nudge go on the floor...lol but i know how annoying a squeaking bed is!
My springs suddenly pop back into shape in the middle of the night too...makes you jump!!!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0 -
If you have wooden floor soft felt pads could help.0

My bed is few months old from IKEA and it has suddenly started squeaking when I toss around. I cannot afford to buy a new one and I have carpeting and I dont have any drawers underneath the bed. Any ideas? Please...The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0

its definately the bed and not the springs in the matress.
and i dont have a wooden floor so i guess it seems like one option only!
cheers,

I used to have a metal bedstead that did this. I found I had to tighten the screws/bolts every now and then? They seemed to work lose somehow?
