Fat cat on Royal Canin obesity diet-putting weight ON!!!HELP!!!

  • Hi

I also have 2 cats from the same litter but one weighs 5.6kgs and Tim weighs about 8!! The problem is he eats his brothers food and is just a little pig. We nearly lost him last year to pancreatitis so I try and monitor what he eats. I've found a combination of royal canin wet food is good I diivide a pouch of the light one for them in the morning and leave them some light dry food. Then I usually either microwave some frozen fish or give them some tuna in springwater or a royal canin instinctive pouch. They also have some Applaws dry food as a treat (just a little handful) this is also low carb. He hasn't lost weight but he hasn't had a relapse and he is a happy if very fat cat. Hope this helps

Just to mention-Cushings is not thyroid disease-it is adrenal gland (or pituitary affecting the adrenals)-is a pretty different disease to either over or underactive thyroid :)

My fat cat gets thin on Obesity dry, FAT on hills light etc (its all in the carbs ) He is obviously an Atkin's devotee. However I just can't quit the pasta :rotfl:

hotcookie got there before I did!

For the record, underactive thyroid glands are also extremely rare in cats. I have personally never seen one.
