Following a thread on the Quick Grabbit board, I ordered 2 Lucky Dips of 10 books each for £10 delivered. Very good deal, I thought, 50p per book!
The parcel arrived today and the selection of books was great and excellent value for money. The only problem was that there was one book missing (19 instead of 20) and also a couple of the books were slightly damaged. I phoned them up and a very nice lady offered to send me a whole new bundle of 10 books for free! She just said to give the damaged books to a local charity shop.
What a brilliant attitude and how refreshing to receive excellent customer service. It took just a few minutes to sort out and left me with a very good image of the company.
Would recommend to everyone and will definitely use them again.

That's very good service.
I hope people do not take advantage of that by phoning up with a problem they don't actually have. It would be a real shame if a company with such a good attitude had to change their policy because of abuse.
I'm waiting for mine to arrive, I took up the same offer as well as buying other books too. Judging by what I've heard so far, I expect I shall be continuing to buy from them.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Their attitude came as such a surprise to me, I was just expecting to get my missing book (after proving to them - goodness knows how - that it was indeed missing), and a replacement for the damaged items. I probably sounded so shocked that the lady knew I was genuine
And of course, we do trust others MSErs to appreciate good service (whilst getting a brilliant deal as well)! :money:0 -
I've been a customer of theirs for years and they are excellent and I've discovered lots of new authors through their lucky dips. I just wish the delivery company they used didn't keep turning up at 7.45am!0

I love the Book People, but I wasn't as fortunate as Dormouse. My last parcel contained a damaged book and they had also got one of my orders wrong. I had to send the books back which was a pain as they were very heavy to carry to the post office.Dormouse wrote:Following a thread on the Quick Grabbit board, I ordered 2 Lucky Dips of 10 books each for £10 delivered. I've just received 2 box sets from the Book People and one of the boxes was damaged. If they had been for me I would have just left them as they are but since they are for a Christmas present I phoned them up. I told them what had happened expecting them to say that they would send a replacement when I returned the damaged one but the lady I spoke to told me that they would refund me the cost of the box set and I could keep them or do as I wish!
What a wonderful attitude to Customer Service! I will definately be using them again and would recommend them to anyone!
:xmassign: to all MSE's and The Book People!

I was also very impressed with the book people. The delivery company left my delivery out on the rain (box says all over the outside that there's books in there and garage was open :wall: ) everything was ruined I called them expecting hassle, but a new parcel was sent straight away and a returns label, but after my post office refused to take it due to weight they came and collected it....excellent :T0

I agree with all the above, I have been a customer for years. I have bought loads of books from them. The prices are exceptionally good - their monthy catalogue is really tempting - so at present I have to have a quick look and put to one side. The books are usually very up to date as well. Don't forget to use your loyalty points as well.0
