If the blisters aren't properly healed put a good blob of vaseline on the offending areas to stop them chafing on the day.

I read somewhere that you can put superglue on blisters to make them less painful... just make sure you don't put your shoes on before it's dried! lol!

Err, thanks both (IA I might just give that one a miss as I haven't had a chance to try it in training - sounds like it could easily go wrong:eek:, lucifa - I will have vaseline in my 'fanny pack' - makes me laugh more than 'bum bag')

I have done the moonwalk four times before and (touching wood) I haven't had a single blister on the night yet (well that probably just jinxed it) - My problem is always that my back really hurts towards the end, but I will be going armed with paracetamol to chuck down my neck at 20-22 miles ready for the last slog:D.

    Hi Red

I certainly am (for those that haven't seem me bleating on about it - I am doing the London Moonwalk on Saturday, it is a 26.2 mile walk in aid of breast cancer charities - redsquirrel80 is doing the Edinburgh one in a few weeks).

I did make a slight error of judgement when I made yesterday my first flip flop day of the year, I got a couple of minor blisters but I will be very careful and they should be healed in time (and thankfully aren't anywhere crucial)

I am mainly relieved that the weather forecast no longer says rain for Saturday night. How about you, is the training going well??

    Hi poppy too.

Good stuff :T Hope the blisters heal up OK! I'm doing alright, as it's my first one I am a little bit nervous but really looking forward to it. Nearly sweated to death doing 8 miles on Sunday so am kinda glad the weather's cooled down a little bit. Got my walking buddy coming to visit next weekend to do our 20 mile practice :)

I'll be virtually cheering you on

And on a completely different note I've just made rhubarb crumble... yummmmmm :D

Red - I think you will be fine, the amount of training you have done will stand you in good stead:T.

I have now done it a stone lighter and a stone heavier than I am currently and I have done it with loads of training and no training. Even with no training it was OK, but with loads of training it was MUCH easier. Oh and a stone lighter was predictably much easier too:o but not much I can do about that now.

Both of you sound like you're doing great :T with the Moonwalk training. I'd never heard of them before but if there's one as close as Edinburgh I might give it a go next year... although a marathon is a loooong walk - perhaps I'll stick to walk/running 10k instead!

Are you supporting a charity or doing it (i can't believe I'm suggesting this) for fun?

It's run by the WalktheWalk breast cancer charity, so is raising funds for them. Their 'trademark' is walking in decorated bras... oh and it starts and midnight just to add to the fun (hence the Moonwalk) :D

Walking a marathon is slightly less scary than running it.. I think!

Absolutely NOT for fun:eek::eek::eek: (although perversely I do quite enjoy it, but I wouldn't call it fun)

The walk is organised by walkthewalk.org and supports breast cancer charities. They do lots of events, some overseas, and the Moonwalks can be done as full moon (26.2 miles) or half moon (13.1 miles) if you fancied doing it and weren't sure about the distance.

Entries for the London Moonwalk open in October/November, I think Edinburgh is probably open at about the same time. It costs about £40 to do it and you get the t-shirt, hat and a bra to decorate to wear on the night.

    oops cross post

I should probably confess that I am a bit rubbish and don't do the decorated bra anymore - instead I opt for a good sportsbra and the t-shirt they send. Lots of the bras look amazing though and I am definitely in the minority - the men look particularly fetching - lol

Are you seriously telling me that people voluntarily walk around in just a bra in the middle of the night in Edinburgh:eek: which, being on the East coast of Scotland has to be one of the coldest   places ever (in my experience onl/y Aberdeen is colder in Scotland)? Criminy:eek:   !!!
