Can I insist I am repaid my DD overpayment?

I have 'overpaid' by around £300 on my Scottish Power bill DD Payments.

we are due to move home and while I have looked at switching elsewhere guess I am better off going onto their capped rate til 2011. we have to get this done today or tomorrow really.

Thing is, can I ask they start us a new account and repay my £300? I was looking to going over to 'Click 5' but I have read on the newsletter that they are rising prices shortly so it is not worth doing that.

Anyone have any advice? I've not had to do this before. Thanks.
