A couple of fair quotes? Fence painting and grass cutting

I'm looking to get a fence painted outside, standard timber job, just with bitumen or whatever. About 6ft high and 20m long. What would be a fair price for this? And how long would it take? I want both sides done.

Also, I need my grass cut, how much is a good price for this, it's small, only about 10m by 5m total area, with a few curves and stuff. And how long does this take?

Cheers
I can't do this stuff myself as busy.

Do you have any neighbourly children looking for pocket money?

No, and I don't have a mower so I'd need a decent job done by someone with all the kit.

Funny you should say that as that was my first thought - the kids as it's study leave up here in Scotland and all the kids are due to come off for the summer holidays soon (how inconsiderate) and I'm sure there's a few bored teenagers who'd love to do it for pocket money.

Anyway that aside have you thought about contacting your local college if they have an agricultural section and see if any of the students there would be interested?

    Where are you?

I used to do grass cutting/gardening for £10/hour, minimum 1 hour, which included use of my own tools and taking rubbish away. That was in the East Midlands, so the nearer to London you get, the more expensive it will be.

Down here its £15 an hour for grass cutting.

For the fence, one coat in a day on both sides if its woodstain. I guess £250 without materials.

What's the going rate for 'tougher gardening' jobs eg rooting out brambles >do you charge by the hour or by the job ? This garden is a)large b) because it's so overgrown would need at least 2 people

Also needs fencing/conifer cut down (a very big one)/ shrubs planted to enclose piece of land at bottom of garden
