I'd recommend Western Digital hard drives no problems. Very good manufacturer.

  • I was looking at this also. However, whilst Googling for external drives, I found these -

    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/150866/art/western-digital/essential-320-gb-usb-2-0.html

Which I think is the same as the Maplin one but for £125.00

    and this one -

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Western_Digital.html

Which is of the same capacity but also has firewire and a card reader for £151.52

I've not used either Pixmania or Overclockers, so can't speak for the quality of their service.

Im 90% Sure my HardDrive is Western Digital....

And after two years its conking out. Makes this grinding noise and sounds like a car revving. At night you can hear it all over the house!

Im not saying they're bad because i've read rave reviews about Western Digital but it does have the tendency to !!!!!! up aswell.

Unless the new ones are better!

I've used Western Digital for years and they have a better than average lifetime.

Avoid Overclockers like the plague, they are well known for shockingly bad customer service. Yes, if your order arrives in one piece and works then great, but if not you're in for a nightmare time trying to get help from them.

There are plenty of other better suppliers out there.
