car insurance cancel fee? quick help

We insured our car Audi A4 2007 it ran out jan 08 but we didnt cancel it we just kept on paying the £39 a month, we now have a new car and sold the audi. We have insured the new car but now we need to cancel the old policy.
They are wanting £200 off us and they want it within 3 days! Can they do this?

    £30 cancellation fee, and £170.04 for the rest of the year! which would have ran out in jan 09.
    The broker is buget, and the insurance company is CIS

    Ye ive just read another post! Can i ask them to spead the cost over the next 6 months?
    They say it will go to there debt collects! Will this affect my credit rating?

    Yes you can ask - thay don't have to agree.

    Yes they can send it to debt collectors, and yes it can affect your credit rating if they do.

    on my credit rating will it just say late payments? i will pay them off but i dont have that much spare cash just to pay them straight away. but we have to remortage in june next year, and need my rating to be great!

    it will show the credit account with the insurer and any late payments will be flagged.

    Also be aware that they will probably withhold NCD proof until the amount is clear. This could lead to your new policy being cancelled if your new insurer requires proof and it is not sent within a certain period of time.

    just checked my intrenet banking, and they have taking £35 plus £170 2day!!! i told them i couldnt pay ie but they have still taking it out. Im now £150 overdrawn what can i do?

    Get your bank to ok your overdraft - otherwise they will charge you for unauthorised o/d which is expensive!
