I am thinking about having my 1930s semi re-pointed next year as my mortgage company always moan on about the state of the pointing on there surveys.
How much should it cost?
Any tips?
Should I have the facia boards changed at the same time, to this new PVC stuff.

It probably varies throughout the country but average re-pointing costs in London is approximately £23 per sq metre.
If you are planning to have the whole of the house re-pointed then you will require scaffolding too, approx £1000 per facade.
Definately get any other facade works carried out at the same time so that the scaffold is put to good use.0 -
you'll be lucky
more like £35 per M2 + materials+scaffold0 -
You might save a few quid if you do the donkey work yourself. No one likes chipping out all the old mortar. Perhaps if you get the ascaffold and then prepare the joints the cost will be far less. The preparation is the crap work that no one wants.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Yes that's right
No builder/brickie likes the cutting/raking out thats the worst bit of the job.
The pointing can be quite theraputic.
and the other thing is you either love it or hate it0 -
Hi,
Jake 54 is spot on for the actual price for re-pointing, it is not cheap as most builders will quote a silly price as they don'e like doing it because it is time consuming!
You could always re-point it your self as long as you have some DIY experience- [url=http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/RE-POINTING.htm

Which part of 'Eastern Europe' are they from!!!
How many M2
How many men to do it
How much work have you given them in total, eh!
They probably charge you £100,000 to do the whole house, offices whatever
and they bunged in the pointing for half price.
either that or they are new, and just started, and need the business
or they have run out of work and need the business
yep that's a good deal, for you, not for them'
I'll check what the rate is just to make sure
They must have to go at a hell of a pace to make the Brickies wages up and the bosses profit on top
If i'm wrong you have my deepest and sincere apologises :eek:0
