What is the best way to make burger baps?
My 3 children are all having friend over tomorrow after school for tea and i said they could have burgers so i need to make the baps they go in but i want my rolls to spread like baps rather than rise too much like my normal rolls but how do i go about getting this to work? any ideas
Thanks

My soft rolls come out like baps if I flatten them with the palm of my hand before letting them prove. I make 15 on a big baking tray, I did some this morning actually and they come out all joined together. I've done a batch of hot-dog shaped rolls which the kids have just had filled with sausages-big hit;)
Don't forget to cover the baps with a cloth when they come out of the oven to keep them soft.0 -

For flat baps I roll my dough out like pastry to about ½ inch (1cm) thick and then cut round a suitable sized saucer, and then let it prove.

I make nice burger rolls now, but it took a while. My dd felt they should be more like supermarket bread for burgers. I make sure that they get long enough to prove, otherwise they are rather heavy. You need them light.
We had burgers last night, one of my children's faves. They have mayo and ketchup, slices of gherkins (Lidl do one where they're cut longways rather than into rings), cheese slices (I'm always a bit suspicious about what goes into a cheese slice, so I get good ones), a bit of salad if you're feeling adventurous. DS likes slice jalapeno peppers!
HM burgers are quite easy to do. Have you done them?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Thanks the burgers went down a treat the baps worked great. So i had 6 very happy children here tonight. not one made a comment about them not being shop bought and two of the kids i know are a bit fussy.
No i did not make the burgers for tonight, though i do try normally as DH hates shop burgers anyway and would not eat them. But tonight was a treat for the kids.Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016
