Camera Warranty

My digital camera, still within the manufacturer's one year warranty, recently developed a fault with the viewing screen. On returning the camera to Fuji, they inform me that the damage could only have been caused by mishandling and therefore is not covered under warranty. CODSWOLLOP!

I have been careful beyond careful with this camera and am very annoyed at this response. How can I proceed to get the camera repaired free of charge? Am I on a hiding to nothing? Thanks in advance for any advice

How old is the camera? you may need to get an independant inspection done on it ( which you may have to pay for ) to prove that it is a fault and not damage caused by yourself. If it is not damage then Fuji will have to honour the warranty. If the camera is under 6 months old then Fuji needs to prove that this was not caused by a fault.
