Help for mature students?

Does anyone know if there is any help available for paying course fees, for mature students studying for degrees via distance learning. My husband earns £26,000 before tax. I am full time mum to 2 toddlers with no income of my own. I receive child benefit and about £12 a week family tax credit.
I understand that the government used to offer career developement loans - are these still available? How else could I spread the load of course fees? (I don't have a credit card). I really don't want to give up now, but times are hard and something has got to give!
Thanks in anticipation

If you study with the OU you can open a budgeting account that enables you to spread your fees over the year. I think that your household income is to ohigh for you to get a grant for the fees. Career Development loans still exist but aren' really suitable for undergraduate study.0

You will probably qualify for partial award if you are with the OU which is course fees paid up to £325 and a grant of £255 (which you can pay rest of fees with if you want)
Any remaing fees can be put on an ousba account which you then pay off monthly..
