Setting Up Router

I am in the process of changing from Orange to Talk Talk for my ISP. In the starter pack Talk Talk have messed up and only sent a standard ADSL modem when I requested a WIFI router. At seams they cannot now send a router until my system is set up, this means I will not have a router for at least a week. If I go and buy a router locally, would it be a problem to set up and what make and model is generally considered the best option.

Any of these should do the job:

Respected brands include Netgear, Linksys and others. I tend to buy Linksys but that's just personal preference. I have also used the cheap and cheerful routers from Ebuyer and find that they work fine for simple requirements, BUT you generally have to have a pretty good knowledge of networking as the documentation is bad and the user interface is not very clearly laid out.
Whatever router you buy, you will need to set it up correctly for TalkTalk. See this page:

Hello Apreciar,
Sorry if you feel that we have messed up...... If you get yourself registered on https://www.talktalkmembers.com and let me know your user name I will investigate what you are saying however please note that the MT882 is free and the wifi one is charged @ £30.00. Have you been changed?

I dont think I have been charged yet, at the time of ordering I was told about the charge and accepted it, yet all I am told is that the sales person messed up and nothing can be done. Am i better waiting for the Talk Talk router at £30 or buying a Netgear DG834G V3 , I know this would be more expensive.TALKTALK_SUPPORT wrote: »Hello Apreciar,

Its up to you ... Depends on which modem you wont however please note that a TalkTalk modem purchased after the point of sale is charged at £49.99 not the £30.00.
You will have 30 days from the date you placed the order to get the £30.00 wifi router.
