When I bought my 37" LCD TV, a Sharp as it happens I spent a good hour or so in the local Empire Direct Store on Pride Park Derby, near what I think was a football ground!
Didn't want a 40" or would have probably gone for a Sony Bravia (they now do 37").
Otherwise Toshiba, Samsung and LG are worth a look.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Also, Hannspree 37" is around £360-ish from Misco, dabs, etc. I've got one, and it's great, esp. at that price....have had threads on here earlier about such things......

The point of the question was that there is a difference between HD ready, and Full HD (1080p), the former being cheaper at the moment.
I'd have a look at some sets in the stores and ask to be shown the set with a SD/Freeview picture.

yeah and then there the whole 24hz thing you are meant to care about as well if you are an av buff.

i bought a second hand rear projector a couple years back as i knew it was going to be ages till the formats were properly sorted out, its only the last few months it seems to have settled down, till oled and 3d laser tv's come along
