OR interview

I went to court and was declared bankrupt last Wednesday and given a time and date to speak to the OR via phone on Wed.28th. I am even more worried about this than the actual court as I have heard that they want to know dates etc. what you spent money on and such. I can't remember everything I spent my credit cards onor exactly when i purchased what etc. on store cards. Has anyone any advice as to how to deal with this, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Annie and welcome:j

Try not to worry, most, if not all of us, have been unable to remember what we spent the money on and when. Mostly people spend the credit on 'everyday living expenses' which are hard to account for penny-for-penny.

The best thing to do is be honest and open with the OR. They have the ability to find out any information that you can't provide.

    Good luck with the interview.:T
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Don;t panic :) (easier said than done I know .. you should have seen me before my OR interview!)

They are not trying to "catch you out" more to get an understanding of how you got to where you are.
I couldn't tell my OR what I spent my CC's on, just said living expenses and getting by day to day and he didn;t ask me to explain anymore.

Just be honest with what you know... if there's any large payments then you might need to say what these are.

I had 12 mths statements available at home so before i sent them off i went through them and listed all the, shall we say "larger" purchases. I was totally stumped(yes i was waspy:rolleyes: )when he asked what i had spent money on from a loan in 2003/4 but that was fine,he understood that. If i remember rightly i think "general living expenses" cropped up rather frequently:D

Just to re-iterate what others are saying, I had my OR interview yesterday, and mostly had 'don't knows' for the answers to what I'd spent the money on, he was satisfied with that as well.

The thing I did have to say over and over again, was just because, for example, I had a credit card with £5k on, didnt mean I went out and spent £5k on it in one. All my debts were built up over years.

I had a few long term CC debts but my fall from grace was pretty quick by comparison as i tried to continue trading after a £13,000 debt wasnt paid to me, also i had £1000 own costs to pay and then i was off work and the blessed PPI insurances wouldnt pay up (i was self/employed) so I borrowed AGAIN off cards to, er, pay cards.....at £1000 per month, plus a loan at £180 a month, plus HP at £240 a month plus living costs, I hope the OR has a got a box of tissues on standby....

basically 13 months ago i was ok and paying my way, and now im BR and owing £40,000
