Wedding Reception - What do we take??!!

A girl I used to work with recently got married abroad. Small do, nobody else went.

She's having the reception in a couple of weeks - now that they are home. The problem is, what on earth do I take to give them??!!

I don't have a lot to spend, and the happy couple have lived together for years so dont need anything house related.

Please help!!!

xx

I have alsways thought that a nice Photo Frame makes a good gift for these kind of things.
You can spend as little or as much as you like. Debenhams, M&S, John Lewis all have a good range.
The happy couple will probably have lots of pics from the wedding/honeymoon, so would be grateful for a photo frame to show them off.

`Save a little money each month, and at the end of the year, you'll be suprised at how little you have.

On the contrary, you might find they'll be given loads more of these as that's what everyone else will come up with (as with Champagne & flutes) - my friends got loads of both when they got married!

Just give them a cheque or a case of wine (can be done for ~£30) - something basic that they can make use of rather than something they'll have to store forever.

I don't really want to spend more than £20....my money trees are sparse.

Got married in America, are a young couple who have been together since they were nippers (13) and have lived together for the last 7 years. They don't have many shared interests, so can't get them anything to enjoy together.

Was thinking that a photo frame was a good idea, but will they not get lots of these?

Don't want to get gift vouchers, because then they will know how much I have spent (they have never been short of money and will probably not understand that the £20 I have to spend is all of the spare cash I have for the month!)

Having done exactly the same this - we got married in St Lucia and had a do when we got home- we got loads of picture frames and marriage certifcate holders etc...

    I would recommend money/cheque/vouchers.

A DVD (do you know what they'd like?) or a DVD rental voucher (you can get them with points from pigsback, I think), a bag of popcorn, a box of chocolates and a couple of little bottles of wine (get those from Home and Bargain or Asda for a couple of quid).

It's a night in in a box, and it's cheap without looking cheap.

How about making a hamper? You can get them in Wilkinsons for £2.99 and fill it with small bottles of wine, chocs, mugs, swizzle sticks etc. It can be done for less than £20. See the Finished Baskets thread on the Special Occasions forum.

please think before buying Champagne . It's not everyones cup of tea
We got married after 13 year together in las vegas and all we got was Champagne and neither of us like it, would rather had a £3 bottle of red wine.
To be quit honest you company should be enough, All vouchers/ money are welcome regardless the amount. Do you have a local shopping centre that does vouchers that you can use on all the shops? this would be great. If not a meal voucher for a local resturant?

I would be really happy with £20 from someone I worked with, so please don't be embarrassed about the amount! If you did a collection at work you wouldn't put that much in would you?

Get them a nice card and a voucher from M&S or John Lewis, that will always be gratefully received I'm sure.

For Champagne, the Tesco gold label Premier Cruz is a great buy at £15.99 (often on offer too!
My sis is a wine rep and it came out top in the industry taste tests even when compared with brands such as Moet!
