Hi I am moving intoa new (rented) house on an initial 6 month contract. I have both cable and bt available. I am looking for the best value package for telephone tv and internet. I would really like a 6 month contract - does anyone know if ntl will do this? ntl are doing three for thirty quid - do you know if this is a good deal?
Also ( I know I am asking alot in one post!) can you record from ntl using a hard disc / dvd recorder?
Thankyou

haven't a clue about recording from ntl to hard disk recorder.
as for your other question. It's the devil and the deep blue sea I suppose. I switched from NTL to BT, purely for ease of using 18866/1899. However, I've stayed with NTL for my broadband provider. 1mb for £9.99. I'm very doubtful whether you will get NTL to reduce their contract from 1 year to 6 months. I know NTL are a lot more flexible than BT when it comes to making good offers, but they ain't that flexible I wouldn't have thought.0 -
If there is already a BT line in the property then you will be able to get the line switched on for free, and should only be tied to them for a minimum of three months.
With NTL you will be tied to a 12 month contract.
If you have a DVD/HD recorder then there is no problem recording NTL, Freeview or Sky Digital except with the PPV movies which will be Macrovision protected - though with a Macrovision remover that isn't a problem. Using the DVD/HDD recorder is just the same as using a VCR.
Idealy you really want to be with BT for you phoneline and then look for a CPS provider like TalkTalk, Tele2, Onetel etc. Then on top of that use 18866 for calls not free with your CPS provider.
Might be worth a look at http://www.adslguide.org.uk before considering a broadband provider.
The 3 for £30 is OK, but must be noted the channels you get aren't really worth what they are asking, to get channels worth watching you need to pay extra and then you would be better off looking at Sky Digital. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
