My friend told me that some relatives of his walked into an airport to see if they have any spare seats on flights leaving pretty much straight away. He said the airline would rather get at least some money for the seat and that they didnt really like sending out planes with empty seats. so is this possible? like, could i just walk into manchester airport and get a flight which leaves in 30mins for cheap? Many thanks, i have a lot of time and i aint bothered where it flies to! as long as its far away! + cheap
cheers

I know a few people who work in Greece / Spain over the summer and quite often they stick around the airport looking for cancellations,0

Sorry-this is a modern myth-Tour Op's WON'T send out charter flights with spare seats on them in peak season-if it looks likely there will be spare seats then Travel Agents or Airline staff get them.
With scheduled flights they NEVER sell at less than the normal rate & will fly with empty seats!
Your best bet is to aim for midweek flights, avoid school hols, have your case packed & phone an agent up at, say, 8pm with a view to fly the next day.
