A crossover network cable will do you

Cheap and cheerful. Means you can network both your pc's together at 100mbps speed (as long as u have 10/100 or 100mbps network cards) and then transfer it all that way.
There are also USB Pc links but they cost around the £30 from Maplin Electronics.
The other way is an external cd/dvd writer
Finally Other external storage devices such as USB Pen's will do the trick but you can't get a lot of data on and its more expensive than a Crossover Cat5 cable
Hope that helps.
(proper term is a X-Over or Crossover RJ45 Cable)[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Yep, cross over cable as mentioned above is a good way of doing so. Just go to your local pc store and ask for CAT5 crossover cable with RJ45 connectors at each end."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

Maplin Electronics do good cheap cable which works fine.
The package will sat Cat5 RJ45 X-Over Ethernet or something similar.
10meters of cable is like £10! 2 meters is about £2 so depends how much u need really.
If you go to maplin electronics, its best to go on the website (https://www.maplin.co.uk) find the Product Code (4 digit code) and then go into maplins, go up to someone and ask them to get it for you

How do I know if I have 10/100 or 100mbps network cards?0 -
As long as your pc's are recent they should be.
If you are unsure, the best way to find out is check Device Manager as it will tell you what model network card you have.
If you Right mouse click on my computer and click properties, then go into Device manager in the Hardware profiles tab, you should be able to see your Ethernet Card under Network Devices or somethign similar.
It should say something like 10/100mbps and the manufacturer of the card

How much!!!......Even B&Q beat that. 100m Cat5e £17 (cable only) or 50m Cat5e (£9).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I've looked and re-looked in my device manager and cannot see what I need to see. *sob*
After doing a little reading on the net, I need to also state I have windows 98 (old pc, 6 years old) and my disc drive doesn't work.. but my floppy drive does... I'm now realising that I'm kind of stuck - am I?0 -
Hi Spotty,
Think it was you that ordered the Mesh Premier. If so pleased to report mine is running fantastic, dvd drive seems to have quietened down. Get yourself a good looking game like Far Cry orHL2 and max out the graphics and enjoy!
For transferring you could use your old HDD as a slave drive in the new pc, even if only as a temporary measure while you transfer what you need. I an 99% sure this is ok but no doubt someone more knowledgable will highlight if I am mistaken, 1% doubt re different file types on drives and whether it will cope???
All the best!0
