As long as cable modem is not USB one Linksys shouldn't be a problem (me think). You might need to clone MAC address though.0

Had to do it with NTL on SMC router - they registered my MAC address from PC and refused to change it to anything else. Was quite a long time ago though

That type of thing never happens these days. If it was frequent we'd see a LOT more posts about it, and if it wasn't frequent then he'd be unlucky for it to happen
