Did you watch Dispatches tonight on Channel4?
http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/dispatches/the+truth+about+beauty+creams/2156357
The scientist recommend good diet, sun block and any good cream-lotion for our skin. They showed that all the cheap and expensive anti aging products did not make any difference to the woman's wrinkles.
I am looking for a daily face lotion with sunblock....Can you use ordinary holiday suntan location everyday on your skin or do you need to use the special expensive lotions like the one sold by Olay, Niva, etc I am thinking of using an ordinary holiday lotion that is organic as a daily face lotion.....

aww Happysad I had hoped from your title that you were posting to say that beauty comes from the inside and/or that it is in the eye of the beholder!
My dh makes me feel as if I am the most beautiful woman in the world (even though I know most other people wouldn't agree with him)... and I don't need any creams (expensive or otherwise) so my beauty 'regime' is very cheap!

The other half told me years ago that most creams and potions we slap on our face to look younger and get rid of wrinkles aren't really that good at all...
or rather once you start you can't stop, you skin gets used to the creams you use on your face and stop producing its own natural remedies, and when you stop using the creams your skin cannot respond.
true this the ex hubby has spent a lifetime using E45 on his face for dry skin, and when he doesn't put it on, his face is dry as anything, his skin has given up producing the essential oil that would normally happen, it's ok to use it now and then but long term not good.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
But I don't think you can tar all creams with the same brush. E45 is basically liquid paraffin which works by putting a barrier on the skin so it doesn't lose moisture. It works in the short term, but in the long term it interferes with the skin's ability to regulate itself and makes the problem of dry skin worse as it does nothing to nourish or support the skin. The other half told me years ago that most creams and potions we slap on our face to look younger and get rid of wrinkles aren't really that good at all...

For this reason I avoid any creams which contain petroleum derivatives such as E45.0 -
I have always (even as a teenager) used a sun cream,I never ever go out without one even in the winter as I am very fair skinned.I was told by a dermatologist that my skin is around 32 not bad considering I'm 53.I always use a serum and a day/night cream.I have about six different creams on the go at the same time as I find my skin needs a change every few days.
I have creams in varying prices,I don't worry if it's cheap and gives results I use it.I did a trial for some cream a Guerlain one,I later found out it cost £200 for the pot I was given.I used it and it was lovely to use.Smelled gorgeous but in the end I preferred Loreal Revatalift it felt better on my skin and my skin looked better with it.So much cheaper too.To be honest I don't think that cost comes into it.What suits your skin better is more important.
Also I do think a daily dose of evening primrose oil is brilliant for your skin,I've taken it daily for over 30 years and I feel it's paid off.0 -

I must admit to using l'Oreal 'Solar Expertise Active Anti-Wrinkle & Brown Spot Sun Cream' (factor 30, facial variety) as my daily moisteriser at the moment. I've got sensitive skin which tends to get spotty or blotchy with some creams, but this one is great - my skin looks really good, and no reaction at all. It's around £10 (I think) for 75 ml, but it lasts for ages (which is why I don't know the exact price, haven't had to buy a replacement for a while). And no need for a separate sun screen as well.

I agree with BlondeHeadOn. I've been using l'oreal Solar Expertise Active Anti-Wrinkle & Brown Spot Sun Cream in factor 50 because I am very fair skinned and burn very easily. It is a very light lotion which goes on easily without feeling heavy or greasy like other sunblocks and doesn't leave you looking white. It also keeps your skin matte. I'm very prone to spots but I haven't had an outbreak from using this.SPC #229= £103.76(2014)
VSP #11 = £74.11(2014) £85.55 (2015)
Crazy Clothes Challenge 2014 £33/£100, 2015 £44 / £100
DFBXmas2015 #10 £3000 / £3,000 (100%) :j

I didn't even know they did a factor 50 one, that could be useful if it gets really hot this summer (fingers crossed).

What about using olive oil or almond oil on the skin? I have read that they are really good... but I know it has no sun protection.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

Wow you have done well to look sooo young. I have heard from a friend like ou she has much younger skin. She uses almond oil daily & a facial every month. She is in her 60's and has skin of a late 30's - early 40's.
Why can we not use holiday suntan lotion on our face? Could we use is daily if it was lighter & did not leave your face looking white?“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

Yes, I believe they are both very good for the skin (some good suggestions for using them on the 'fight back against expensive cosmetics' thread)- but as you say no protection from the sun, so no good for daytime on their own...and the one thing that came out of last night's programme is that a sunscreen is the only really proven anti-ageing ingredient in a cream. What about using olive oil or almond oil on the skin? I have read that they are really good... but I know it has no sun protection.0
