Help ! I need to fix the Pool Table !!

Hello..

Ive done somthing BAD !! And I need some advice

My hubby just managed to buy a nice second hand pool table for our boys (and him) and around the edge theres were round stickers (none of us know what they are actually for, we assume they were for lining up shots) The stickers were all worn and comng off so we decided (in our wisdom) to remove them as we found them annoying...
To cut a long story short...The lovely shiny finish that the mdf laminated with walnut effect to a high polish now has some matt patches where I scrubbed a little too much, It looks now 10 times worse than it did with the manky stickers !! waaaa arghhh boohoo.
Is there anyone out there who has any idea how I can restore the shine to these areas ? I have tried buffing til im sore with polish etc. Hubby tried the buffer on his dremmel..no luck... I assume the top coat is some sort of plastic which would give it such a shine. HELP !!

  • Maybe too simple but can`t you just replace with new stickers . . . . . . ?
Failing that you can buy sheets of the stuff , it`s like self adhesive timber veneer . Paper thin and in colours to match most timbers so you`d simply buy some which matches veneer on your table and cut out shapes to replace the matt patches . Look in B & Q or local hobbies shops
I`m now officially too old to die young
  • Thank you
The matt patches are much bigger than the size of the stickers. When taking them off they left a really sticky mess. I thought i was real gentle removing the goo but obviously not gentle enough. I will investigate the craft shop.
